Mighty Jets thrash Bechem to ease relegation woes

Mighty Jets handed their relegation survival battle a massive boost with a deserving 3-0 victory over fellow relegation-trapped Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Forward Abubakar Sidi crashed home the opener on 27 minutes before Emmanuel Laryea converted a spot-kick four minutes later after Tamimu Montari was hacked down in the penalty area.

Salifu Mamuda wrapped up the three points for Jets with a fine finish with 19 minutes left.

Mighty Jets were hoping to record their third victory of the campaign to better their chances of survival and Bechem United, their neighbours from the bottom three rather proved too brittle to contain their swift play.

Bechem United did little to contain the swift counter-attacking of Mighty Jets as they crashed to their seventh defeat of the season.

Attacking midfielder Abubakar Sidi carved out the opener for the Tudu-based side with a wonderful finish after a sublime move from the middle.

Dan Owusu's men tried to warm themselves into the game and cause some few problems for their host but they were kept in check.

The second goal arrived four minutes after the opener. Dangerman Tamimu Montari produced some wizardry down the flanks before outpacing his mark.

However, he was hacked down in the box and ref Vincent Cofie wasted no time in awarding a penalty to Mighty Jets.

Emmanuel Laryea stepped up to send Ransford Cudjoe the wrong way to double his side advantage.

Salifu Mamuda sealed the victory for Jets with a superb drive on 71 minutes.
