Mihajlovic: AC Milan can qualify for the Champions League

Published on: 22 February 2016

AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has praised the performance of his team after they held Napoli to a 1-1 draw in Serie A on Monday night.

The Partenopei dominated much of the game but they were unable to break down a stubborn and determined defensive display from the Rossoneri.

“We knew it would be difficult to get a result here, but in the end we succeeded,” Mihajlovic told Premium Sports after the match.

“It’s true that they have controlled the game, but we prepared for that exact situation.

“In defence we did well, attacking wise we were a bit sloppy. I’m happy, the boys did well. Napoli also played on Thursday, we only play once a week, so perhaps why we were more fresh.

“The whole team did well, even the centre-backs, so much so that [Gonzalo] Higuain barely had a touch. We are a team that is hard to beat, we remained in the game until the end. The result is fair.”

Mihajlovic went on to say his side could challenge for third place this season if they keep this level of performance up.

“If we continue to play like this, until the end of the season, we can aim for the Champions League,” he concluded.
