Mihajlovic: Niang still has room for growth

AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic believes M’Baye Niang still has plenty of growth ahead following their Coppa Italia win over Sampdoria.

The Frenchman and Carlos Bacca were on target in defeating Mihajlovic’s former employers for the second time this season.

“We had to win, and we won. We have shown we have the right character in this tournament,” Mihajlovic told Rai post match.

“There is nothing stopping up getting to the final. We’re prepared for the Frosinone tie and hope of ending the year on a high.”

Mihajlovic has been under intense scrutiny recently having failed to pick up all three points against Hellas Verona and Carpi.

“We haven’t made the most of our chances, but we have faith of reaching the Champions League qualification,” he insisted.

M’Baye Niang opened the scoring for the Rossoneri, scoring his third against Sampdoria this year and his seventh in total.

“Niang is very young, he needs to find greater continuity to his performances and do so on a weekly basis,” he continued.

“He can be very hard to mark because he’s fast and equally capable on either foot, but he needs time to grow mentally.

“However he is very strong both technically and physically, it all depends on him and concentration,” he concluded.
