Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has named his first squad since he was reappointed on Friday.

The Serbian named a 30-man provisional squad for next month's qualifiers and interestingly four players who made the last squad by Charles Akonnor are not invited.

Hearts of Oak right-back Fatawu Mohammed earned a late call-up last time and made his debut against South Africa in Johannesburg.

Surprisingly, he has been omitted, with Rajevac inviting first-choice right-back Andy Yiadom and the untested Philemon Baffour.

German second-tier player Braydon Manu has lost his place in the team after his debut call-up in August for the games against Ethiopia and South Africa.

The SV Darmstadt 98 forward admitted to being surprised with his call-up because he felt he hadn’t done enough to merit playing for the Black Stars.

Also, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh is out after not being given the chance to prove himself when he was invited for the first time.

And then, Algeria-based striker Kwame Opoku. The former Kotoko player was a second-half substitute in the 1-0 defeat against Bafana Bafana having established himself as a regular under Akonnor.

Rajevac's squad will take on Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers twice in the space of four days in October.

Ghana will host the first encounter in Cape Coast on October 9 with the second match scheduled for October 12 in Harare.

Both are must wins for the Black Stars who are trailing group leaders South Africa by one point.
