Mining giants Goldfields Tarkwa-Damang to "handover" Akoon Park to Medeama today

Medeama's new community park is due to be handed over to the high-flying Ghana Premier side today at a ceremony in Tarkwa, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

The 3,500 capacity park was constructed by giants mining firm Goldfields Tarkwa-Damang.

The Akoon park has served as the temporal home of the Mauve and Yellows since the start of the 2019/20 League season.

The required test has been completed for the facility to be handed over to the two-time FA Cup holders - which also serves as the temporal home ground of Aiyinase-based Karela United.

Goldfields put up the facility for the Akoon community - a suburb of Tarkwa which serves as the home ground of the two Premier League side.

The Akoon park is part of 11 projects completed by Goldfields Foundation in host communities at a total  cost of GHS 58 million.

The commissioning of the projects include a library, Goldfields School KG Block, Nana Angu II- Umat Road as well as the Akoon park.
