Mo Salah posts selfie from Liverpool's new training ground after being given the all clear to return

A smiling Mohamed Salah is back in training at Liverpool after being given the all clear to return to action having previously tested positive for coronavirus.

Egyptian international Salah first tested positive for Covid-19 on November 13 while on international duty with Egypt and after partying at his brother's wedding.

Liverpool's leading scorer had tested positive for the virus three times before returning a negative test result and Sunday and as such was cleared to come out of isolation and rejoin Jurgen Klopp's squad.

Salah returns to unfamiliar surroundings following Liverpool's move from their Melwood base to the new AXA training ground, but the 28-year-old could not hide his delight at returning to the club.

The attacker posted a selfie from the team gym to his 40 million Instagram followers on Monday afternoon as he linked up with his team-mates again.

Salah's return comes as a major boost to Klopp who has been hit by an injury crisis in recent weeks, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined for the champions.

Nevertheless, a threadbare Liverpool squad eased past high-flying Leicester at Anfield on Sunday thanks to efforts from Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, as well as an own goal from Jonny Evans.

Jota has fitted into life at Anfield seamlessly since his £45m arrival from Wolves in the summer, and became the first Reds player to score in their first four home league games.

Klopp refused to criticise his star forward for attending the wedding in his home country, where it appeared that very little social distancing was observed.

‘If we knew or not (that he was going to the wedding), it is private,’ said Klopp.

‘Honestly, we cannot start giving little pieces of it. I did not go to my best friend’s birthday party in the summer. Fifty people attended and I decided at the last minute not to go — that was only a birthday party.

‘Maybe I don’t have that many birthdays any more with my best friends, so it was really hard for me to decide. That’s the situation we are all living in.'
