English giants Manchester City have extended the contract of Ghana starlet Mohammed Abu until 2014, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

The Premier League side have awarded the former Right to Dream Academy student a two-year extension to his contract.

His current deal was due to expire at the end of this season but has been given an extension following his impressive showing.

"I'm very happy with the new deal. It means I must work harder and harder. I must make sure that I play at the Ittihad Stadium in the coming seasons," Abu told MTNFootball.com.

"This opens a new door for me. It is a new challenge which I must over. I will wear the City jersey and make my country proud."

Abu’s new deal follows his impressive performances for Norwegian side Stromsgodset where he has been on loan since 2010.

The 19-year-old earned his first international cap for Ghana in the 2-0 triumph over Sudan in the 2012 Nations Cup final qualifier.

He also impressed when started against Nigeria in Tuesday's international friendly at Watford’s Vicarage Road Stadium.
