Tottenham Hotspur are now looking for "the final pieces of the jigsaw" after receiving interest from Ajax and Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

This is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about Tottenham's potential transfer plans as the summer deadline approaches.

According to reports, Antonio Conte's side have been monitoring Kudus' situation at Ajax for the past six months, with the club hoping to sign the 22-year-old.

However, the report suggests that the club may be willing to wait until next summer to sign the midfielder if a deal cannot be reached before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

And Jones believes that the club's potential acquisition of Kudus could be one of the final pieces of the puzzle for Conte's side, who will fight on four fronts this season.

He said: “I think he’s a different type of midfielder and I think that, again, Tottenham are just looking now for the final pieces of the jigsaw and the players that might give them an edge.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if they did sign a midfielder, obviously James Maddison’s one that has been linked.

“Kudus has the ability to make things happen from midfield.”

Kudus recently hinted that he's unhappy at Dutch giants.
