Former Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo says there were nights during his reign that he could not catch a sleep due to the persistent criticism from the fans.

The club legend oversaw a turbulent period as a result of boardroom wrangling and player agitations over the sudden departure of his predecessor David Duncan.

Hearts managed to end the season in third-place and had Polo replaced.

Former Inter Allies coach Herbert Addo has since taken charge but Polo says he is just happy to have closed that chapter.

“It was a nightmare. The things I had to go through when I was coaching Hearts,” he told GHANASoccernet.com.

“The supporters behaved as if they had something personal against me, and I really had to put up with a lot.

“I still insist it was a pleasure to coach the club but I believe we could have achieved more if the ground was leveled.”
