Montella: The season starts now for Sampdoria

Published on: 28 February 2016

Sampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella was delighted with his side’s performance during their 2-0 win over Frosinone at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and he hopes it can kickstart a strong finish to the 2015-16 campaign.

Fabio Quagliarella and Fernando were on the scoresheeet as the Blucerchiati ended a streak of eight matches without a win.

“The team left everything out on the pitch as they had to do, they won the game with their spirit,” said Montella to Rai Radio.

“We shouldn’t lose this spirit going into the end of the season.

“In other games, we haven’t played badly but we’ve been missing something, but today we weren’t lacking anything and we did well.”

The Samp coach was also asked if the win over fellow relegation strugglers will keep the Ligurian side safe.

“No, we won an important game at a different time but our season starts now,” Montella added.

“I’m certainly not satisfied, we still have to finish strongly and there are a lot of games to go.”
