Montolivo: AC Milan must obtain consistency to make fans return

Captain Riccardo Montolivo has insisted that AC Milan must address their problem of inconsistent results in Serie A.

As the Rossoneri prepare for the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday evening, the Italy international has stated that he wants Milan to improve upon their domestic form as a means of luring back the absent supporters.

“Beyond the derby we must obtain continuity in our results,” Montolivo told the press. “This way we can make the fans return.”

After losing the first derby earlier on in the season, Montolivo has stated that he hopes the Rossoneri can this time obtain the bragging rights over their city rivals, and that they can succeed in a packed out Stadio San Siro.

“Tomorrow we hope that it will be a magical match,” he added. “When the San Siro is full, it is a beautiful place to play.

“We did well in the first game but let’s hope that the result is different this time.

“Tomorrow’s match is a perfect opportunity for us to inch closer to one of the top spots.”

Lastly, the midfielder also stated that he and his teammates recognise the important role that striker Carlos Bacca can play on Sunday, and that they will aim to create an abundance of goalscoring chances for him.

“We will try to find serve him in the best way possible tomorrow,” Montolivo added. “We will aim to create the best possible conditions in which he can score.”
