Mortagbe rejects forgery claims, vows to clear name

Ghana FA presidential candidate Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe has utterly rejected claims that he forged signatures on his nomination papers which led to his disqualification.

The ex-leader of the Hearts of Oak supporters’ body has vowed to clear his name amid concerns that he could lose his post as a Fifa marketing consultant over the allegation.

The red flag was raised by Mohammed Alhassan of Wassaman Football Club who claims his initials were used on Mortagbe's nomination papers without his consent.

But the Ghana FA presidential hopeful insists he will prove that he was not involved in forgery, urging his supporters to stay calm.

"Our candidate, Mr. Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, categorically denies any wrongdoing and will use all legal means available to clear his name and set the records straight," a statement for Mortagbe's campaign team said in a statement.

"We thank all well wishers for their continued support and encourage them to remain calm and strong as we deal with issues relating to the disqualification."

Mortagbe and Vincent Odotei were disqualified from the race for failing to meet the condition set by the elections committee of the Ghana FA.

The incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi will stand unopposed on 28 April.
