NDC Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency, Rockson-Nelson Kwami Etse Dafeamekpor, has offered a heartfelt apology to former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan.
This comes after Dafeamekpor accused Gyan of intentionally missing a crucial penalty kick to stop the then NDC-led Ghana government's chances of taking all the glory.
Dafeamekpor's apology was prompted by Gyan's recent appointment to the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Manifesto Sub-Committee on Sports.
The MP expressed regret for his earlier remarks. The accusations levied by Dafeamekpor had sparked significant backlash and criticism from various quarters.
Gyan humorously responded to the Dafeamekpor's earlier statement, that perhaps the MP was seeking an autograph.
"The Black Stars and other National Teams have iconically rallied & carried our passions, dreams and aspirations for glory to the world. Upon reflection & calls from people like Kenpong, I retract & unreservedly apologize to Asamoah Gyan, for my comments," he posted on X.
