Mumuni Abubakar named Ghana U20 captain for Italy trip

New Edubiase captain Mumuni Abubakar has been handed the armband for the Ghana Under-20 side whioh will tour Italy this month, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The 18-year-old earned a late call-up after he was initially excluded from a 22-man squad.

Mumuni impressed caretaker coach Oti Akenten during the team's camping at the Ghanaman Soccer School of Excellence.

His maturity in the middle of the park will be crucial when the Black Satellites play Italy's Under-20 on 9 November and against Parma youth side three days later.

Mumuni was named the Sports Writers Association of Ghana Premier League Player of Year for last season.

He played all 30 matches and picked one yellow card.

Mumuni was a member of the Ghana squad which won a historic All Africa Games gold medal in Maputo, Mozambique.
