Muntari has faith in AC Milan's pursuit of the league title

AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari believes that they can leapfrog Juventus in the standings and carry on to retain their Scudetto Championship for this season.

The former Portsmouth midfielder was instrumental in leading the Milanello to the top of the table, with a wonderful goal against Chievo Verona.

Had Milan drawn the game, it would have meant that the Rossoneri would have lost further ground in the title race.

With Juventus in top form over the past month and securing victories on a regular basis, any further slip ups by the Rossoneri would effectively mean that retaining their crown as the Italian champions would be an uphill task.

Despite Antonio Conte’s side leading the pack after week 32 of the Serie A, Muntari is hopeful that the Old Lady would slip up in the League.

In his interview with Milan Channel, the former Nerazzurri midfielder remarked that anything could be possible in the league, and the closing end to the season would be interesting. He further remarked:

"I am confident in what may happen to us until the end of the league. The final matches are always hard for everyone."

The Ghanaian midfielder had a torrid time at Inter Milan after falling out of favour with the club manager, he subsequently asked for a move away from the club, and Muntari was loaned out to the Milanello.

Massimiliano Allegri has had the misfortune of having too many injuries in the squad which was the prime reason for the move for the former Sunderland midfielder.

Since his switch, he has featured regularly in the squad, and has repaid the faith shown in him with consistent performances.

Their current streak of results has suggested that Milan have lost the faith of retaining the Scudetto, however Muntari refuted such suggestions. Furthermore he reflected on their defeat against Fiorentina, and commented:

"That defeat belongs to the past. Now we must think carefully about our upcoming match against Genoa. We have realised what we need to do to win these matches."

In his nine appearances for the club, the midfielder has scored on two occasions.
