Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has rejected a move to Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

According to the Spanish press, Muntari was the first option for the Inter Milan player man who spent last season on loan at Sunderland.

Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay told AS the club are facing difficulties in luring the player to the Anoeta.

"Muntari's arrival is possible but it's a very difficult operation as there are many things to solve with the player, his club and his agent. We can find an agreement with Inter, but then the real problems will start for us."

Sociedad coach Philippe Montanier wanted the Ghana World Cup star in his troops for an improved season after finishing 15th last term.

Inter will now have to fine him another club probably in Italy before the summer transfer window shuts on 31 August.

Turkish side Galatasaray have expressed interest in signing him but reports in Italy say he could be heading for Genoa.
