Austria-born Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso says he never imagined himself as a footballer while growing up.
The Tottenham Hotspur player disclosed that as a child, he dreamed of becoming an action movie star, inspired by martial arts legends like Jackie Chan and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
In an interview with Ghanaian musician Black Sherif, Danso admitted that football was never his first love.
“To be honest, for as far back as I can remember until around the age of seven, I hated football. I wanted to have a career in acting, especially in action movies.
"I was into karate and things like that. Even when my dad and brother watched football, I found it so boring.
"I preferred watching Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and all those action stars. But then, one day, something just clicked, and I realized, actually, I like this sport.
"I started off as a striker, and from the moment I began playing, I knew this was what I wanted to do. The rest, as they say, is history.”
Born in Voitsberg, Austria, to Ghanaian parents, Danso moved to England at the age of six and eventually joined MK Dons’ youth academy, where his career took off.
