Myron Boadu has moved past a recent disciplinary setback and is back in the mix for a starting spot at VfL Bochum.
Left out of the squad for the 2â1 loss to FC Augsburg, the Dutch-Ghanaian striker has returned to full training and could feature prominently in Saturday’s clash against Werder Bremen.
Coach Dieter Hecking confirmed Boadu’s status in a pre-match press conference, saying, “I definitely see him as an alternative for the starting eleven.” The 24-year-old reacted maturely after a heated moment in training, holding a clear-the-air talk with Hecking. “We have spoken out,” the coach said, indicating that the matter has been resolved behind closed doors.
Despite the brief fallout, Hecking praised Boadu’s character and potential, noting, “Myron is a good lad, has his heart in the right place. Sometimes he gets in his own way.”
Boadu has trained well this week, showing hunger and focus. Still Bochum’s top scorer with seven goals, he may now have the chance to prove himself again, this time from the start.
