Myron Boadu is fighting to earn his place in VfL Bochum’s starting lineup after a frustrating period of recovery.

A pubic bone inflammation sidelined the Dutch-Ghanaian striker for nearly two months, and although he marked his return with a winning goal in a friendly against Heracles Almelo, Boadu’s performance remains under scrutiny.

Coach Dieter Hecking didn’t mince words when discussing the 22-year-old, stating, “I’m not completely convinced of him at the moment. That’s not what I want yet.” While acknowledging Boadu’s special abilities, Hecking emphasized that the striker isn’t meeting the standards required for a regular starting role.

“He just has to jump over his shadow and offer more in training, just like the others do,” said Hecking, stressing the need for a greater fighting spirit, particularly as Bochum battles at the bottom of the table. For Boadu, the path to securing a place in the starting eleven is clear—he must deliver more consistent effort on the pitch and in training.
