Napoli land Ospina

Published on: 05 July 2019

Napoli have completed the permanent signing of Arsenal's 30-year-old Colombia international goalkeeper David Ospina.

The shot-stopper spent last season on loan in Naples, featuring in 17 Serie A games as the club finished second behind Juventus.

The Gunners signed Ospina from Nice in 2014 and he made 70 appearances in all competitions for the club. He has featured in 98 games for his country and played at the last two World Cups.

A brief statement on Arsenal's official website read: "We would like to thank David for his contribution to the club and everyone at Arsenal wishes him the best for his future."

Arsenal are 5/4 to finish in the top four of the Premier League in 2019/20 while Napoli are available at 6/1 to win the Serie A title.

Meanwhile, Gunners boss Unai Emery could sign Yacine Brahimi this summer if he fails to land Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace.

Arsenal have had an initial bid of £40million for the Ivory Coast international rejected by the Eagles who want double that price. Zaha has said that he wants to move to north London but at the moment a deal between the two clubs seems unlikely to be agreed.

Brahimi is available on a free transfer from Porto after scoring 13 goals in 49 matches last term. Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas have also been linked with the 29-year-old Algeria international.
