Napoli target Lyon midfielder

Napoli are interested in signing Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier during the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has made just five appearances this season due to a four month injury lay-off after tearing a tendon in his left leg during a pre-season friendly against Arsenal.

According to Il Mattino, Maurizio Sarri is interested in bringing the midfielder to Naples to help the club in their bid for this season’s Scudetto. The Partenopei Sporting director Cristiano Guintoli is in contact with the representatives of Grenier at Mondial Sport and is hopeful of acquiring the services of the Lyon youth graduate in January.

Grenier can play on the left wing and as a central midfielder and is Napoli’s third midfield target after PSG’s Adrien Rabiot and Ajax’s Davy Klaassen. Sarri believes that signing the highly rated attacker would be easier than snapping up team-mate Maxime Gonalons, who has rejected the Azzurri multiple times in the past.
