Ghana's incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has made a bold promise to support the Black Stars in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Member of Parliament for New Edubiase, Adams Abdul-Salam, president-elect John Mahama is resolute in his determination to ensure the team's qualification for the global showpiece.

The Black Stars have been struggling in recent times, failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) for the first time in 20 years.

However, they have shown promise in the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, currently sitting second in Group I with nine points after four games.

Abdul-Salam emphasised that the NDC government will work tirelessly to provide the necessary support and logistics to ensure the team's qualification. He noted that qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is the government's top priority, and they are committed to doing everything in their power to make it a reality.

With the NDC government's commitment to supporting the team, Ghanaian football fans are optimistic about the team's chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

The Black Stars will resume their World Cup qualification campaign in March 2026, with games against Chad and Madagascar.
