Recently appointed Arsenal Sporting Director, Andrea Berta, will decide the future of Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
This is according to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
Asked whether there are currently talks to extend the contract of the Black Stars midfielder, the manager said it will be handled by Andrea Berta.
"I'll leave that to [sporting director] Andrea [Berta] and the club to decide and to talk about.
"The intention is very clear. I'll leave that to Andrea and the club to take a step forward,” Mikel Arteta told the English press when asked for an update on any potential contract extension talks going on between Arsenal and Thomas Partey.
Thomas Partey, 31, is approaching the end of his current contract and could become a free agent at the end of the season.
Following his recent outstanding performances for the Gunners, particularly in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid, fans have clamoured for Arsenal to award Thomas Partey a new contract.
Although Mikel Arteta has always praised the midfielder and described him as an important member of his squad, he now wants Sporting Director Andrea Berta to decide his future.
The fate of the Ghanaian will become clearer at the end of the season.
