New boy Eboue admits Sunderland survival is \'going to be difficult\'

New Sunderland signing Emmanuel Eboue has admitted that keeping Sunderland in the Premier League is 'going to be difficult,' but has insisted he is ready to 'play and fight hard' to help the Black Cats avoid relegation.

Eboue signed a short-term contract with Sunderland until the end of the season, following his release by Galatasaray last summer, and has been training with the Club since early February.

'I don’t want the club to go down to the second league (Championship),' said the Ivory Coast defender.

'So for me at the moment my aim is to try my best with my team-mates to maintain the club in the first league (Premier League). We’ll see when I play, but I’m ready. I hope my first game is against Newcastle but it depends on the coach.'

The former Arsenal right-back also thanked Sam Allardyce for the chance to return to the Premier League, 'I was dreaming about (returning to the Premier League) and thinking about it when I was in Turkey because I played here before, so I thank God, my new team-mates and also the staff and everybody else who took me in like a son. I also thank the manager who has given me a second chance, so I hope I can give my best for the club and also for him.'

'The first time I came I didn’t see him, then I saw him two days later for maybe five minutes because he knows me already, and now we’re like a family so we will work together and try to make the team happier,' added Eboue.
