New Chelsea signing Jorginho has revealed reasons behind picking the number 5 jersey at the Club after completing his move from Napoli.

The midfielder will be wearing the jersey worn by Ghana International Michael Essien and Dutch Legend Frank LeBouef during their time at the Stamford Bridge.

The number 5 jersey has become an iconic shirt at the club because of the success of previous wearers of the jersey.

However, Jorge Luiz Frello Filho who is known as Jorginho insists he chose the number 5 jersey because of it's significance and it's historic place in Brazilian football.

“I think it is a strong number, and in Brazilian football it is a number that is well-respected and has an important place in the history of football, but above all it is just a number I like. I think it is a beautiful number. And also because great players in the past like Falcao from Brazil wore it,” he told Chelsea's website.

The Falcão Jorginho is referring to is Paulo Roberto Falcão, a Brazilian legend who plied his trade in Italy in the early-to-mid 80s and is often regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time. (Former Chelsea player Radamel Falcao is in fact named after him in tribute.)
