MP-elect for the Jomoro constituency Wing Commander Francis Anaman has pledged to use his office for the benefit of clubs in the Western Region.

The retired Ghana Airforce officer snatched the Jomoro seat on the ticket of the ruling NDC after polling 21,651 to beat incumbent Samia Nkrumah who polled 18,110 in the December 7 general elections.

Anaman is now poised to use his influence to raise funds for sporting outfits in his constituency and the Western Region at large who currently have Medeama as their only Premier League side.

“Western Region has always been noted for best things,” he said.

“Sadly we don’t have enough representation in the Ghana Premier League.Right now, we have only Medeama.

“Their performance in the league needs to be sustained while helping the others like Hasaacas and XI wise regain Premier League status.

“I therefore look to use my office to urge the oil companies in this area to contribute part of their earnings into football clubs.

“We need to strengthen the clubs by providing the requisite resources so they can buy the best players and improve their infrastructure.”
