New York Cit target Demichelis living in the present before planning Man City stay

Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis has stated that he will be staying put at the Etihad Stadium at least until the end of the current season.

With Demichelis entering the twilight of his career as well as struggling for regular minutes on the pitch at City, the centre-back was recently linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium and a switch to MLS sister side New York City FC had been touted as a possible destination.

Demichelis has now opened up about his imminent future and has refuted claims of a move to New York by stating that he will be remaining put at City at least until the coming summer.

The 34-year old said: "Next month I turn 35 so I have been in this business for quite a long time. I have learned a lot in the past and what I have learned is that you need to live in the present, and enjoy your football.

"I am really enjoying my time here at City, playing with big players and for a club that is so ambitious, with such big objectives.

"We still have six or seven months of competition and then at the end of the season we will see what's best for me and what is best for the team.

"For the moment I am enjoying my football and am really proud to be part of this."
