Newly-signed Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed likened to Stanley Aborah by Silkeborg IF star

Silkeborg IF defender Kees Luijckx has likened newly-signed Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Kudus Mohammed to former Vitesse Arnheim star Stanley Opoku Aborah.

The 19-year-old penned a five-year deal with the capital-based giants after passing a mandatory medical test.

He is expected to replace Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech who joined the Chelsea this summer.

Kees Luijckx, who had several duels with the young midfielder during his stay in Denmark, has likened him to compatriot Stanley Aborah who etched his name in the Super League with Den Bosch after joining from Ajax.

"Do you remember Stanley Aborah?", Luijckx draws the comparison with the former Ajax talent, who has disappeared from the radar via FC Den Bosch and a series of foreign clubs. "Kudus is the same type. Strong, mega-ball-resistant, also from Ghana. Maybe it sounds a bit strange now because Aborah never broke through definitively, but I mean it positive."

The former Right to Dream Academy joined the Dutch giants for €9 million and Luijckx believes the fee could put pressure on the youngster but says he has the attributes to become an instant hit in the Netherlands.

"It is a huge amount for Nordsjaelland," says Luijckx. "Because of that amount, Kudus himself will also be under pressure at Ajax. Anyway, there is always pressure when you play at a top club."

"I saw a statistic pass that he has made the most successful dribbles in all of Europe. Then you can think: well, in the Danish league. But on the other hand: many teams play defensive here," it sounds. "He always takes the initiative, which makes him an attractive player for the public."

Mohammed netted 11 goals in 25 appearances for the Wild Tigers in the just ended Danish Super League.

He scored on his debut for the Black Stars against South Africa back in November.
