Christian Eriksen provides his reasons why he’s picked Casemiro as the best midfielder he’s played alongside with at Manchester United.

Casemiro is widely touted as one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation and he’s proved that on the biggest stages both at the club and international levels.

The Brazilian has won the same number of Champions League titles [5] as Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid and other top honours.

He’s doing superbly well for Brazil in the World Cup Qatar and scored the lone goal against Switzerland that took Brazil through to the round of 16 with a game to spare.

Neymar rushed to his official Twitter handle to hail the 30-year-old as the best midfielder in the world for a long time.

Casemiro joined Manchester United over the summer from Real Madrid, quickly adapted to life at the Theatre of Dreams and has blended well playing alongside Christian Eriksen under Erik ten Hag.

Eriksen believes the former Real Madrid midfielder is the best midfielder he’s played alongside with at Man United, despite playing alongside Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Scott McTominay.

On the best midfielder he’s played with, the Denmark international said: “It’s very different, every player has a different style, everyone has different abilities.

“At Manchester United, I would probably have to say Casemiro. He’s won about 20 Champions Leagues already, so it should be him!”

Eriksen dons United’s no.14 jersey following his summer switch from Real Madrid and has revealed that it was his son who picked the shirt.

The former Inter Milan midfielder added: “I didn’t pick it, my son picked it! We had a few options, a few numbers and I wrote him a list of the numbers available, and he picked number 14.”

On how he’s adapting to life at the Theatre of Dreams so far, Eriksen added: “I’ve only been here a few months, but it already feels like I’ve been here a lot longer, then you know that you feel at home straight away, which me and my family have done. It’s been a nice first few months.”
