Coco Gauff commented on her father’s emotional behavior in the stands.
Reporter: You said your dad is always animated watching you play. Did you talk to him before this game or did your mom make sure he was behaving himself?
Coco Gauff: No, I didn’t talk to him about… He already knows. My mom’s always there if I have to tell him he’s overdoing it. I’ve learned not to look at him when I lose points. But he reacts great when I win.
He doesn’t mean any harm, of course. I’m the same way, though. When my brother plays basketball or baseball, I like to raise my hands – as much as it pisses me off when my dad does it, I do it myself. I know it pisses my brothers off, too.
I think it’s just a reaction. And then he’s like, oh. I don’t know if it’s on the broadcast. He’s twirling a rubber band in his hands out of excitement – said the 23rd racket during press-conference.
