Ian Wright, the Arsenal legend, expressed his desire for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo to sign for Arsenal following his impressive display in Brighton’s 4-0 win over West Ham.

Brighton’s Moises Caicedo has caught the attention of Arsenal legend Ian Wright, following his impressive performance in the Seagulls’ 4-0 win over West Ham. The Ecuadorian midfielder’s excellent display prompted Wright to express his wish for Caicedo to sign for Arsenal, despite his failed attempts to secure a transfer deal in the past.

The match at the Amex Stadium saw four different Brighton players score, including former Arsenal player Danny Welbeck, who netted the final goal of the game. Alexis Mac Allister and Kaoru Mitoma added to their seasonal tallies of six goals each, with Joel Veltman also getting on the scoresheet. The result cemented Brighton’s eighth position in the Premier League table, with three games in hand and seven points off fourth-placed Tottenham.

In an interview with Match of the Day, Wright not only praised Caicedo’s skills but also expressed his delight at the player’s response to the transfer saga, stating that he was impressed with the midfielder’s ability to focus on his game despite the distractions.

The former Arsenal striker said

“You have to mention Mitoma, because he’s been brilliant again. But I think Caicedo, the way this has panned out because of the transfer and everything that was going on with that.

“It could have turned his head, and I think that for him to get himself going again, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Brighton, because they’re a fantastic club and he seems like a very good guy.

“What he’s doing is what he does best, and it’s the reason why there’s so many clubs after him, not only Arsenal. You can see him already scanning [the play off the ball] and knows where he’s going to get the ball. Very good player.

Wright described Caicedo’s positional awareness, exceptional scanning ability, and impressive ball distribution skills, highlighting why many clubs are interested in signing the young player.

“He gets himself into positions where he’s got enough time and space, he can switch it very well. But what I’m more impressed with is the fact that he just got his head down and got his game going, because that [failed transfer] could have scrambled him.

“I’m delighted for him. Good luck to him – he’s been unreal.”

However, despite Arsenal’s interest in Caicedo, a deal is unlikely to be reached as the midfielder recently signed a new contract with Brighton.

Nevertheless, Wright’s admiration for the player and his wish for Arsenal to secure his services in the future indicates Caicedo’s promising future in football.
