Julian Alvarez sets record only Pele could break in World Cup
The South American side celebrated a 3 – 0 win over Croatia to reach the final of the top tournament.
Lionel Messi opened the score from the penalty spot to give his side the lead, while Alvarez scored a double to secure the team’s place in the final stage of the competition.
Following Argentina’s win over Croatia, Alvarez became the youngest player to score two goals in the World Cup semi-final or final since Pele.
The Citizens’ young star reached the record at the age of 22 years and 316 days. Brazil legend Pele, meanwhile, had managed to do it being a 17 years and 249 days old guy.
Julian Alvarez has become the youngest player to score twice in a World Cup semi-final or final since Pelé in 1958. ⭐️💙 @OptaJavier
