Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella congratulated the Women’s team for reaching the Champions League semi-finals via Instagram after successfully qualifying for the Semi finals of the Women’s Champions League.

Chelsea’s left-back Marc Cucurella has taken to social media to extend his congratulations to the Women’s team following their nerve-wracking win in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Emma Hayes’ side secured their place in the semi-finals after prevailing in a dramatic penalty shootout against their opponents.

The game saw the Blues battle hard against their opponents, and their determination paid off when Maren Mjelde scored a crucial 128th-minute penalty to force the match into a penalty shootout, which they eventually won.

The defender was quick to praise the Women’s team’s resilience in a post on Instagram, where he commented “let’s go” on a picture of the team celebrating.

However, the men’s team has their work cut out if they hope to emulate their female counterparts and reach the semi-finals of the competition.

They face a challenging quarter-final clash against Spanish giants Real Madrid, who beat Chelsea in the same competition last year on their way to European glory.
