Following Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan and the swift termination of his contract at Manchester United, the Red Devils are in serious need of a new striker, and while Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid is a potential contender, Goncalo Ramos of Portugal has now emerged as the ‘selected’ man to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese striker’s contract with Benfica runs through June 2026, with a 120 million euro release clause. Due to his astronomical price tag, teams like FC Barcelona have withdrawn from the competition leaving just Manchester United as the favorite to sign him.

With a hat-trick in place of Ronaldo, who was a former Red Devil, the 21-year-old stole the show in Portugal’s 6-1 triumph against Switzerland at the World Cup. He is now seen as a hot commodity ahead of the January transfer window.

However, Benfica won’t let Ramos leave in January unless his €120 million (£105 million) release clause is met, according to the Italian newspaper Calcio Mercato, who also claims that Man United manager Ten Hag has “selected” Ramos as his primary center forward for the future.

With four goals and two assists from 14 league appearances so far this season, Marcus Rashford has been the Red Devils’ most dependable offensive option.

The likes of Antony, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, and Anthony Elanga have all suffered with either form or fitness, while he appears to be returning to form.

however, Ramos might be a great option for United if they want to continue their drive for the top four since they need more reliable goal-scorers on hand.

Speaking  Via The Express former Manchester United midfielder asked Ten Hag to go all out for the signature of Ramos.

Even if it takes that player a little while to get used to whatever system the manager wants to play, they need a guaranteed goalscorer.

“Goncalo Ramos, the Portuguese kid, can be that guy.

“He’s really young, but he’s already shown us what he’s capable of, on the biggest stage of all at the World Cup, scoring a hat-trick against Switzerland.

“The way he plays, and how he moves and interacts with his team-mates… he could be their new Cristiano Ronaldo. A move to United would be a good thing for him.”

The striker has made 86 appearances for Benfica in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and laying out 10 assists for an impressive average of 0.45 goal contributions per game.

However, since Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool last summer, he has been under more pressure to serve as the primary center-forward for the Portuguese team this season.
