Man Utd defender Raphael Varane set to start for France vs Denmark
Reports are suggesting that Manchester United defender Raphael Varane will start for France against Denmark on Saturday in the World Cup.
Varane missed Man United’s last few games before the international break after he suffered a muscle injury against Chelsea in October.
The former Real Madrid defender recovered in time for France’s opener against Australia but was left on the bench as the likes of Konate and Upamecano helped Les Bleus to a comfortable 4-1 win.
According to L’Equipe, the 29-year-old defender is in line to start against Denmark.
Several reports are suggesting that Didier Deschamps may decide to start with three centre-backs in a bid to have more bodies at the back as they would be without Lucas Hernandes, who suffered a bad injury against Australia.
The last time France and Denmark met each other, the Danish side recorded a comfortable 2-0 win in Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
