Frenkie de Jong’s girlfriend, Mikky Kiemeney, has responded to a recent inquiry regarding the midfielder’s potential move to Manchester United. The rumor of de Jong’s transfer to the Premier League club first surfaced last May, sparking months of speculation over the Dutchman’s future. However, despite interest from both United and de Jong’s current club, Barcelona, the move never materialized.

Recently, with the injury to Christian Eriksen and the suspension of Casemiro, there has been speculation that Manchester United may reignite their interest in de Jong. In a recent Q&A on social media, a fan asked Kiemeney, “When’s Frenkie coming to Manchester?” In response, she posted a picture of the upcoming fixtures between Barcelona and United, and simply wrote, “23/2 I guess.”

The two teams are set to face each other in the Europa League play-off round in the coming weeks, which could further fuel transfer rumors. It should be noted that de Jong was previously wary of a move to Old Trafford due to the club’s lack of Champions League participation this season. Currently, Barcelona sits at the top of La Liga, eight points ahead of nearest rival Real Madrid.

The upcoming fixtures are likely to be a source of frustration for United fans, who must face the added challenge of a two-legged tie in the Europa League after finishing second in their group. This comes on top of an already busy fixture list, including a delayed game against Leeds United, due to the Queen’s death last year.
