Luke Shaw and Fred sustained injuries in the Carabao Cup final and may not be available for Manchester United’s FA Cup fifth round match against West Ham on Wednesday.

Manchester United’s hopes of reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals may be dealt a blow as two key players, Luke Shaw and Fred, are doubtful for the upcoming clash against West Ham. The duo picked up injuries during the Carabao Cup final, which could potentially rule them out of the crucial fixture at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Despite both players featuring in the Red Devils’ 3-1 victory over Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday, manager Erik ten Hag confirmed in his pre-match press conference that their availability for the West Ham game remains uncertain. Additionally, Anthony Martial will not feature, as he continues to recover from a hip injury.

Ten Hag acknowledged the significance of having a strong squad, stating that the entire team will play a crucial role in the quest for success across all four competitions. “We didn’t win it with 11 players, we won with a squad,” said the Dutchman.

He also emphasized the importance of players fighting for their positions, given the many upcoming games and months ahead. While he hopes that the injured players recover in time, he expressed confidence in the rest of the squad, affirming that they will be ready to take on any challenges that come their way.
