Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku enjoyed another 90 minutes of action for Italian side Udinese as they defeated Cagliari to end the year with an important win.

Opoku, who impressed manager Davide Nicola in the Zebras 0-0 draw at SPAL was given the nod to start again and he produced another strong performance as Udinese ended a run of five games without victory to beat Cagliari 2-0.

Ignacio Pusseto opened the scoring for Udinese in the 39th minute before Valon Behrami sealed victory with a 58th minute strike.

The former Club Africain defender partnered Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong in the heart of defence as the pair ensure they kept a clean sheet.

The win moves Udinese to 13th on the table and five points clear of relegation.

Opoku's compatriot Emmanuel Agyeman Badu did not make the team for the game on Saturday.

“+3 Points , Great Performance and a Sweet Victory Before 2019. To The @Udinese_1896 Fans, Thanks For The Unflinching Support. Glory Be To God,” the excited Ghana defender posted on Twitter after the game.
