Spain forward of Ghanaian descent, Nico Williams has achieved another remarkable feat in his career after earning recognition as one of the shortlisted players for the 2024 Ballon d'Or.
The swift winger had a season to remember when he played a key role in helping Athletic Club win the Copa del Rey trophy for the first time after 40 years.
The 22-year-old was also a key player for Spain when they clinched a record-fourth title in the 2024 European Championships.
As a result, the player made the cut as one of 10 players plying their trade in the Spanish La Liga who made the final list.
His Spanish teammates, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal - both Barcelona players also made the list.
The other players from La Liga nominated for this year’s Ballon d'Or award also, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jnr, and retired Toni Kroos among others.
Inaki Williams, Nico's elder brother who represents Ghana took to social media to express his excitement.
