Nigeria U23 coach issues Ghana warning

Published on: 26 June 2011

Nigeria U23 coach Augustine Eguavoen has warned Ghana that they will score in Accra when the two sides clash in the second-leg of the All African Games qualifier.

The Dream Team fought back from a goal down to defeat the Black Meteors 3-1 in Benin City on Saturday in the first leg of the final qualifier for the competition to be held in Maputo.

Ghana's only goal scored in the game give the Black Meteors a glimmer of hope in the second leg.

The Ghanaians only need a 2-0 win to qualify Eguavoen is keen to see his boys exploit their first leg advantage.

“It’s unfortunate that they (Ghana) scored but nothing stops us from scoring over there,” Eguavoen said.

Ghana fielded a strong team with six players already members of the country’s top team.

The two sides will clash in the second leg in Accra in two weeks' time.

Plavi should assist Akwasi Appiah in the return leg. We need to bring back Bobo if we want to raise a local coach. He can still take care of the young boys as he did when they won the U20 world cup

Football is not played with the mouth..........its 90minutes and some extras........and within this period a lot can happen to change the shape of a game because there are linesmen and a referee and there is what is called red card and penalty...........lets just pray for the meteors and hope they do their home work well to correct the mistakes in the game in Nigeria,in all I see the meteors qualifying with hard work, determination from the players, technical team,GFA.........our defence is suspect, allowing three goals in 49mins is not good and if they get a goal here in Ghana........it makes our task more difficult as they are a free scoring side.........check their goals record so far in the qualifiers.......our defence needs to be concentrated and not allow complacency

always pray, that is ghana's solution to everything pray, ghana is in economic turmoil and all atta mills says is that God we see us through lets play for the better. It is about time we got off our asses and stopped relying on God. Even God said He helps those who helps themselves, if you really want the black meteors to win i suggest you buy a ticket and go to the stadium to support them, they will need it. I will be there myself to support the meteors, currently i am in accra and i wont miss it.

Where in the Bible that says so? My friend that statement is not in the Bible. It's human philosophy. God rather operates the very opposite; He helps those that cannot help themselves. Back to soccer, Kwesi Appiah is not ready for prime time. How could you lead at the first half and not capitalize on that? An away match?

d Better prepared team will surely qualify,i pray we qualify but make no mistake abt it,d Nigerian Dream team is very Solid team and will give our team a run for their money, they have a very compact team frm defence, midfield and a very sharp attack,we just hv to be very carefull not to concede any goal at home cos if we do it'll be all over for GHANA.i wish our boyz d best of luck.
