President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has been appointed as the new head of CAF West Zone B, following the resignation of Ghana’s Kurt Okraku.
Gusau, who has led the NFF since 2022, takes over the regional role with strong backing from member associations. His appointment is seen as a move to maintain continuity while injecting renewed energy into the affairs of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
Kurt Okraku stepped down after being elected unopposed onto the CAF Executive Council and subsequently named CAF’s 2nd Vice President. He explained that balancing those high-level responsibilities with the WAFU B role would be untenable, hence his decision to step aside.
Gusau brings vast experience to the position, having previously chaired the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, served as chairman of the Zamfara Football Association, and held committee roles within CAF, including on the youth organising committee.
He was elected as the 40th president of the NFF during its 78th elective congress, succeeding Amaju Pinnick. His elevation to WAFU B president is expected to bolster regional collaboration and further the development of football across West Africa.
