No Afutu and Attah as CK Akonnor prepares to name STRONG Ghana squad for World Cup 2022 qualifiers

Hearts of Oak duo Benjamin Afutu and Richard Attah will not make the cut as Ghana coach Charles Akonnor prepares to name his squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

Afutu, a midfielder and Attah, a goalkeeper appeared to have impressed locals after the end of the just ended season.

The two players featured prominently as the Phobians clinched the Premier League crown and the FA Cup for the first time in 21 years.

There have been a massive clamor for the inclusion of the two players in the Black Stars squad but that dream will have to wait a little longer, GHANAsoccernet.com sources say.

The two players will not make the squad with established players expected to be named for the double-header against Ethiopia and South Africa next month.

Akonnor does not want to take chances and will call up his trusted charges as the country begin the journey to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

Ghana are scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg respectively.
