Nations FC head coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle has cautioned his players against excessive celebrations that could violate regulations, following a recent incident involving forward Emmanuel Annor.
Mingle’s comments came after Nations FC secured an emphatic 4-1 victory over Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League, a result that preserved their narrow lead at the top of the standings with just three games remaining.
Nations currently sit on 57 points, one point ahead of Bibiani Gold Stars.
Annor had previously come under scrutiny after celebrating a goal in a 2-0 win against Asante Kotoko by removing his shirt to reveal an undershirt with the message “I Belong To Jesus.”
The celebration was deemed a breach of the Ghana Football Association’s rules on political and religious expressions, resulting in a GHâµ500 fine.
Addressing the situation, Mingle explained that he had spoken to the entire team to prevent future infractions.
“The whole team, not him alone, I talked to the whole team. In Ghana, they won’t caution you, they’ll fine youâ¦they can caution you, they can fine you so nobody should do it again. I’ve talked to them,” he said.
Nations FC are scheduled to face FC Samartex on May 25 in another key fixture in their title push.
