Ghanaian youngster Arvin Appiah has been called up to England’s World Cup-winning Under-17s squad.

Nottingham Forest striker will link up with the Young Lions for a mini international tournament which will see them face Portugal, Russia and Germany this month.

Appiah, who has featured for Forest’s Under-18s and Under-23s this term, has been capped for the Under-17s before, though was not part of the team which lifted the World Cup last weekend.

Steve Cooper’s side beat Spain 5-2 to triumph in India and are now looking ahead to next summer’s Euro Finals which take place on home soil.

They step up their preparations with three games in the space of a week, starting with Portugal at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium next Wednesday, followed by Russia at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, November 11.

Their final match is a meeting with Germany, which takes place at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium on Tuesday, November 14.

England automatically qualify for the 2018 Euros as host nation and they will be hoping to use home advantage to go one better than last season, when they lost to Spain on penalties in the final.

Cooper has named a 20-man squad for the latest round of fixtures.
