Nyantakyi Caf hopes bright after Adamu axing

Kwesi Nyantakyi hopes of winning place in the Caf Executive Committee are extremely bright after the axing of shamed Nigerian administrator Amos Adamu.

Ghana FA boss was originally contesting one position available in the West Africa Zone B following the imminent retirement Togolese administrator Gen. Seyi Memene.

But the sacking of World Cup hosting votes tout Adamu means both slots for West Africa Zone B are now available.

This makes it even more likely that Nyantakyi would be able to seal one of the places to give Ghana a voice at the highest football decision body on the continent.

Nyantakyi is considered as one of the favourites following the achievements of Ghana football under his administration including two impressive World Cup appearances in 2006 and 2010.

Adamu’s ouster means his chances of winning the slot has increased dramatically.

Adamu was sacked from the executive committees of both CAF and FIFA for breaching FIFA code of ethics over the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosting bids.

The elections into the CAF executive committee will be conducted in Khartoum, Sudan, in February.

Besides Adamu's position, several other positions including that of Togo's Seyi Memene and Amadou Diakite of Mali are up for grabs in the other zones.
