Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has rejected accusation that he has imposed errant midfielder Kevin Boateng on Black Stars coach insisting he will not interfere in Goran Stevanovic’s job.
Nyantakyi decried a report that seems to suggest that he has asked ‘Stevanovic and AC Milan midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng to put their egos aside’.
The GFA boss insists he will not do anything to undermine the coach’s job in instilling discipline in the Black Stars and damage progress made with the national side.
A report claimed that Nyantakyi has asked Stevanovic to name Boateng in the squad to play Brazil and Swaziland after the Serbian dropped the midfielder for indiscipline.
The GFA boss says he was wrongly represented.
“I am unhappy with the report. I will never undermine the Black Stars coach as I have full confidence in him,†Nyantakyi told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“I want to assure Ghanaians that I have not and will never interfere in the coach’s job. As you can see Boateng is not part of the squad and if I was interfering I would have asked for his inclusion.
“I did not demand Boateng’s inclusion and I didn’t say coach Stevanovic is egoistic.
“In fact I support actions taken by the coach to discipline players when they err as we have done with other players in the past.â€
Nyantakyi says he will not do anything do destroy the recent successes the Black Stars have chalked under his leadership.
“I have been in charge of Ghana’s first two World Cup appearances and I know what we have done to ensure these successes. Crucial to these successes is discipline,†the GFA boss said.
“If I have helped in making the country strong, I will not be the person to tear this down with this act being ascribed to me.â€
