Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has tipped Asamoah Gyan to end the year on a high by winning the 2011 African Footballer of the Year.

The star striker is among seven nominees shortlisted for the top individual award on the continent which also includes compatriots Andre Ayew and Kevin Prince Boateng.

Ivorian trio Didier Drogba, Yahaya Toure and Gervinho alongside four-time winner Samuel Eto Fils are also in the frame for the top-notch award.

But the Caf Executive Committee member believes the Al Ain attacker has done enough to win the award.

“If you look at the list, it quite competitive and all of them deserve to be in there but Gyan in my opinion looks the likely candidate for the award”

“Andre Ayew also did very well and he also has chance.”

The list will be pruned down to three before the winner is announced in Ghana’s capital of Accra on December 22.
