Ex-Ghana star Nii Odartey Lamptey believes impressive left-full back Baba Abdul Rahman has what it takes to excel in the German Bundesliga.

The 17-year-old joined newly promoted top-flight side SpVgg Greuther Furth on a five-year deal from local giants Asante Kotoko.

The talented Ghanaian defender is considered as one of the rising stars to emerge from the West African country after he churned out eye-catching performances on his debut season in the local league.

Rahman will become Greuther Furth’s second Ghanaian player and Lamptey believes the youngster can step to the plate.

“When he arrived the chairman (Hack) called me and asked me the type of player he was and I spoke good things about him,” Lamptey told Radio XYZ

“I am not surprised that he has been signed. I followed him, watched him play for Asante Kotoko.

“There is no doubt that he will do well but he has to work extra hard because the German League is very tough.

"And especially for a side that will be playing in the elite division for the first time, he has to go the extra mile."
