Odotei in scathing Ghana FA attack over government stand-off

Vincent Odotei has launched an astonishing attack on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) claiming the federation is not using a ‘commonsense’ approach in dealing with government.

Odotei, who has vying to become the next GFA boss, waded into the stand-off between the federation and the government with his laser-guided attack.

Ghana football has seen a turbulent week with Fifa warning of a possible ban from international football if government doesn’t steer clear from interfering in the administration of the game.

Odotei insists the GFA must be commonsensical in its dealings with government to avoid future clashes insisting the federation is not honest.

“We must look at our posture, our utterances and we must be guided by what even the Bible says by Jesus Christ that the laws were made for man and that man was not made for the laws,” Odotei said on Joy FM.

“This sinister and overzealous clinging on to FIFA rules with laws…in the modern day they will tell you that you need to tamper those things with common sense and pragmatism.

“No matter what we do; no matter how we try to invoke the laws of FIFA; no matter how we drum up our independence we are the relationship that we have to forge with the state is crucial.”

The GFA’s office was closed down on Tuesday when an anti-fraud unit raided the federation which resulted in a warning from Fifa.

The GFA and government have been at loggerheads since the federation rejected a list sent by the ministry of sport for various government sympathisers to occupy various positions in the GFA.

The GFA subsequently rejected Abedi Pele as the GFA’s candidate for a CAF executive committee position.
