Jonathan Mensah will be out of action for the rest of the year after his club confirmed the Ghana defender will require six weeks to recover from a thigh injury.

The centre-back picked up the injury in Ghana’s 2-0 win over Comoros in Kumasi in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Mensah limped off early on and later explained his decision to retire from the match was only a precautionary measure.

But further checks run by the French Ligue II side revealed the injury is serious.

Evian TG are expecting him to be available for selection in January 2016.

Mensah recently ended a four-month transfer ban by FIFA and started playing competitive football again.
